A "Gyros" Wrap:
OK, I admit it, I love an authentic gyros sandwich, but they are tough to make at home. So, this was developed as an easy substitute. The flavor is what you'd expect, but the construction of the "sandwich" is quite different. Roll this recipe inside an MP safe crepe (as a wrap sandwich), or have it on a plate, as you see fit. Either way, if you like the flavor of a gyros, then you'll enjoy this one!
1 ½ lb ground lamb
garlic powder – pinch to ¼ tsp according to your taste
2 tsp lemon juice
1 tsp basil
½ tsp marjoram
1 tsp thyme
½ tsp rosemary
¼ tsp salt (or to taste)
¼ tsp pepper
1/8 cup snipped parsley
Combine all ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Crumble mixture into skillet and cook until meat is browned. Drain excess fat.
Sauce:
What is a gyros without the sauce? Trust me, you need the sauce! It goes good as a dip or on eggs too!
16 oz sour cream
1 small cucumber, seeds removed
¼ tsp salt
dash garlic powder
For the sauce, puree the seeded cucumber, place in strainer and press to remove excess liquid. Combine strained cucumber with the sour cream, salt, and garlic and mix well.
