Swedish Meatballs

For meatballs:

1/2 cup onion, finely minced
1 tbsp MP safe vegetable oil
1 1/2 lb ground beef (90% lean organic beef if possible)
1/4 cup MP safe dry bread crumbs*
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp dried parsley
1/3 cup egg whites**
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp ginger
1/4 tsp allspice
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp Better than Bouillon, or 1 tsp bouillon powder, or 1 ouillon cube (MSG Free)
1/2 cup water

For gravy:

2 cups beef broth

1/4 cup unenriched cream or half and half
salt and pepper to taste

Saute onion in oil.

*Crumbs from bread made with unenriched flour.

** I use liquid egg whites found in the dairy case next to the eggbeaters and other egg substitutes. Check that the ingredients list only egg whites and no other ingredients, as some have D added!
